Our management team is led by Dan Horowitz, an Ivy League educated architect along with Mark Canno, an experienced construction manager and real estate broker. Between the two of them, they have over 26 years of experience in all areas of design and construction management in Fairfield and Westchester Counties. They are experienced in a broad range of projects, from small renovations to designing and building multi-million dollar homes.

Mark Canno, managing partner at Apache, graduated from Boston College in 1989. Mark gained extensive experience working in the real estate sector in New York City for several years before starting his own company, Mark Canno Realty in 1995. After completing several homes in Westchester County, he joined Dan Horowitz in founding Apache Design-Build in 1996. Mark brings great organizational, management, and communication skills to the company, and has innate insight and expertise regarding home location, property value, and market conditions. Mark oversees the construction process and assists many of our clients in purchasing new property or selling their existing homes. For the last 8 years, Mark has been instrumental in facilitating the production of some of the highest quality homes in Fairfield and Westchester Counties, while developing and maintaining trusted relationships with clients and sub-contractors.

Daniel Horowitz, managing partner and design team manager at Apache Design-Build, brings a unique combination of knowledge and talents in both areas of architectural design and building construction. Born in South Africa, Dan moved to the United States when he was twelve and became involved in building houses as early as high school.

Dan started his design training in Florence, Italy, then continued on at the Bartlett School of Architecture in University College, London, completing his Bachelor of Arts with honors in Environmental Design and Art History at the University of Pennsylvania in 1989. He graduated first in his class with a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania in 1992 and was awarded the American Institute of Architects' Gold Medal for excellence in the study of architecture.

While still at University, Dan began working for world-renowned architects Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown in Philadelphia. During his five years with Venturi Scott Brown and Associates, he worked on several high-profile projects including a new regional government center in France, a new science building for the University of Pennsylvania, and a resort for employees of the Japanese Post Office in Japan. In pursuing his passion to incorporate and integrate the design and construction processes, Dan founded Apache Design-Build with fellow-builder Mark Canno in 1996.

Jenn Eckart, Jenn Eckart is Apache’s office operations manager and media relations director. After graduating from College of New Rochelle with summa cum laude honors in 1990, Jenn spent several years in the fashion and publishing industries before joining Apache Design-Build in 2002. Along with being a writer and a musician, she is the co-founder and board member of Children’s Rescue Mission Inc, an orphanage for 450 children in rural Honduras created after Hurricane Mitch in 1998.
